Got the cards in the mail. My online case status says the application is still pending.

Check with your attorney, in your mail boxes along with the online USCIS case status. You may get the good news in your mail box or from your attorney's office before your status is updated online.
This is what my attorney had to say:

I asked that to the IO and she says she does not know about the online status but in there system it is approved. I did that after i received a call from an IO from local field office ( i went for Infopass last week at local office) informing that my and my wife's cases were approved on 9/4/09.
I am hoping to get the cards as have to travel to India next week. The IO in Texas advised me to get the Passport stamped.

Also if you did ,did the POE officer issue you a new I 94 when you re entered US??
I am asking because i have heard different verisons when u visit canada

Its not abt H1-B abuse, its abt the way it was brought up. Instead of looking into his own house (USCIS and DOL) Sen.Durbin held Indian companies responsible and almost started bashing them. Little did he anticipate that they will come back in this way.
H1-B abuse is a different issue. Sen. Durbin should have looked into rulemaking part of the game than bashing players of the game.
When the US was instrumental in doing WTO negotiations during late 90's (BTW-your's truely grew up during that period witnessing this through newspaper articles - was an exact reversal of roles played by India and US then)they never realized that globalizing markets would lead to globalizing labor market also. Now, IT has become a virtual industry with a pretty much open labor market. Professionals making Rs.50000 ($1200) are competing with those making $5000 a month. US politicians made a classic judgement error in 90's. Now, protectionist measures are being brought in by the very same people who championed globalization for a decade.
The letter puts things in perspective for sen. Durbin. It seems to carry a veiled warning about backlash of these protectionist measures on the US companies doing business in India. Starting from McDonalds,subway,coke (now even Walmart) to Ford, GM, IBM, Pfizer, Merck, Novartis, Abott, J&J, JP Morgan, Bank of America and many more have huge business interests in India. Yes, medical forms been changed. Please refer USCIS site for correct form. It is valid for one year but form should be correct.

Please now note that "Previous editions will be accepted only for medical exams conducted before August 1, 2008. Medical exams conducted on or after August 1, 2008, require use of the 06/05/08 edition," according to the form site instruction.
� There was a confusion in June 2008 on the validity of older version form I-9 because the USCIS form site instructed that the older version was not acceptable from certain date. In Vancouver, the USCIS authority confirmed that the form instruction was an error and the USCIS form instruction has since been corrected. It will help tremendously if the USCIS releases an announcement that the current I-693 form instruction is indeed correct and the civil surgeons can use the I-693 forms which are older than 06/05/2008 version can still be used. I have H1B visa stamp on passport with my old employer and I have AP, EAD and H1 approval with my new employer. I am planning to travel to India in December. If I use AP on my way back, does that annul my H1 approval with new employer. Pl advise.

My case is very similar to yours. I had applied my I-140 in Oct 2006. Got an RFE for Ability to Pay which was responded to in Feb 2006. LUD changed twice in Feb and there was no progress. I upgraded to premium processing in June but there was no progress in my case even after 15 days past. Recently I got to know thru my lawyer that my case has been moved to the TSC Review Department for a background check and a decision is pending. I have taken an INFOPASS appointment to meet with an immigration officer to follow up about my case on Friday.
There are lot of people who are now stuck in background checks at I-140 stage which was very uncommon before.
I would advise you to follow up with you lawyer to get more details on your case. My lawyer actually spoke with the Immigration Officer at TSC.

Isn't it amazing, thousands of people are waiting with bated breath for the USCIS update news and some idiot opens a new threads to start a baseless rumor. And claims that news comes from Greg. This so called news as it turns out is a comment by some troll "south" on Greg's website.
Our friend here who opened this thread fails to even see the connection between the id handle "south" and his post" going south." Honestly, things like this make you wonder, how can such people call themselves highly skilled.

If I remember correctly, there is information on the paperwork that you receive your card with that states something along the lines of:-
"Please check the information on the card, if any of it is correct please call XXX number / write to us at YYY"

When your H1B expires when you are in the US and you apply for an extension of the H1B along with an extension of the stay of the person(s) since they now hold this status, you get a I797 where the right bottom part is your NEW I94. You are supposed to staple this to the old I94 in your passport and surrender the same when you fly out of the country to a non contiguous territory
That is how you were able to travel!!!!!!!
As for Automatic revalidation here is the link to the State Dept site:

Once you get the I 485 receipt..you can apply EAD on your own..Why you need to beg for that to the Employer. Let it go. File for your I 485 and get the receipt. That's enough to keep you in status.
Filing AP and EAD are very simple process and you can do it on your own.

Here are my thoughts, I-485 application is accepted by USCIS based on priority date set by DOS in order to distribute available visa per country violating the basics "All men should be treated equally".
Remember, the rules are made by the system not for itself.
